Description of Moksha Yoga Montreal

Moksha Yoga is an intense physical flow of postures that is done in a heated room, usually between 38C and 41C (100-105F). The heat provides several benefits including deep, safe stretching and detoxification as the body sweats. The Moksha hot yoga series integrates numerous hatha postures in such a way that makes your body feel relaxed and calm.

Moksha Yoga Montreal is a member of a group of independent hot yoga studios committed to ethical, compassionate and environmentally conscious living. Collectively we strive to communicate that the benefits of yoga are limitless and accessible to all.

Moksha Yoga is more than a series of postures. It began with the vision of two individuals and has since grown into a worldwide community with classes in Hong Kong, Taipai, England, Trinidad, Singapore, Thailand and across Canada.

This family has evolved and flourished with the ideas, hard work and support of every Moksha studio owner, Moksha Yoga teacher and most importantly through a community of devoted students working on bettering the world on a subtle level - one sweaty yoga class at a time!

Radiant Heating
We use radiant heating to heat our studio to the desired temperature. Instead of heating air, radiant heat warms objects. Less energy is needed to heat people since the entire room doesn't have to be filled with heated air like a forced-air furnace.

Cork Studio Floor
We chose to use cork floor for many reasons. From an environmental perspective, cork floor do not damage trees. Cork is a natural product that comes from the bark of trees only. The trees are simply peeled instead of being cut and then the bark grows back without damaging the trees.

From a health perspective, Chiropractors and other health practitioners know cork as a flooring alternative for those with low back pain (think Birkenstocks) because cork is a natural shock absorber. Also, because it is harvested from the exterior of a living tree, cork contains natural anti-microbes that prevent bacteria from entering the floor.

Filtered Showers and Faucets
Water filters that filter our chemicals such as chlorine are placed on all of the showers. We also have a very effective filter installed for drinking water.

Friendly Cleaning Products
We use Environmetally-friendly products for all our studio cleaning. The products are hypo-allergenic (contain no perfumes, dyes, formaldehyde preservatives, ammonia or other common allergens). They are plant based and thus can biodegrade very efficiently.

Natural Mat Disinfectant
To keep the rental mats clean we use Benefect, a 100% natural disinfectant made of plant products such as Thyme. How does Benefect kill germs? Plants produce oils with help protect themselves from germs just like humans produce antibodies for the same purpose. Benefect contains a mixture of these plants extracts to effectively kill 99.9% of germs, naturally.
