With GM Bob Gainey trading away Cristobal Huet to the Capitals for a second-round draft pick at the trade deadline, it seems the team has confidence in rookie net minder Cary Price. But does the management of the Canadians really think Price is the resurrection of Patrick Roy? Albeit, Price is proving with each game he has the stuff NHL goaltenders are made of (13-9, 2.76, .911), it seems a bit strange that Gainey, while fighting with the Senators for top spot in the North East Division, would put all his eggs in one basket when the team is positioning themselves for a playoff run in just over a month. It would be quite devastating for Canadians fans, who have been waiting for years for the team to have a chance to do well in the playoffs, to watch Price tank under the pressure. With the Senators floundering (head coach John Paddock was just fired), going 11-12-2 over the last 25 games, the Canadians are set to do well. Let’s hope Gainey is as wise a GM as he was a player and the Canadians come out of the division in good standing come April.

Cloverfield (2008) --> An ambitious attempt to show a monster movie through the lense of a handheld camera, Cloverfield fails for two reasons. The first is the urge by many audience members to ask why this story couldn’t be filmed in the normal way to help spur on what might be renaissance of the monster flick that Jackson’s King Kong and the Korean film The Host re-popularized. The second reason for its failure is the inability to believe that anyone short of severe mental illness would care enough for posterity to film New York’s destruction; especially since it puts the cameraman in direct danger. The guy isn’t a war correspondent’s cameraman for god’s sakes.

Gigantour --> is the name of an annual six-week traveling heavy metal music festival organized by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. The tour was founded in 2005 with dates across North America, and the 2006 and 2007 line-ups also travelled to Australia. The bands appearing at the festival were chosen by Mustaine because he wanted to "put together a festival that consisted of positive bands that play heavy music in a high energy environment." The tour is set as an alternative to tours such as Ozzfest.
Among the stated goals of the tour are to cater to fans of many different styles of metal, as well as to introduce fans to less familiar acts. This is accomplished through the second stage, which hosts less-well-known metal bands. The name Gigantour was inspired by the classic 1960s Anime "Gigantor". The Gigantour logo was inspired by The Terminator logo. The logo was conceived and designed by Dave Mustaine and Megadeth.com webmaster Dave McRobb. - Wikipedia
This year's feature: Megadeth, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Job for a Cowboy, High On Fire

¡Cuba! Art and History from 1868 to Today --> Organized and presented by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from January 31 to June 8, 2008, ¡Cuba! Art and History from 1868 to Today, which brings together some 400 works of art, is the most important exhibition ever presented to showcase the art of this Caribbean island, which Christopher Columbus described as “the most beautiful land eyes have ever seen.” Thanks to the collaboration of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Fototeca de Cuba, and of many collectors and museums in the United States, including the MoMA, this exhibition draws a broad panorama of Cuban art and history. This lively and well-conceived multidisciplinary exhibition brings together about one hundred paintings, including a huge collective mural produced in 1967 by many artists, two hundred photographs and documents, approximately one hundred works on paper (in particular two collections of pre- and post-1959-Revolution posters), installations and videos, in addition to music and film excerpts.
